Every year, nearly 5 million people come to view the 1 mile deep Grand Canyon phenomenon. Carved by the Colorado River in Arizona State, I decided this location was high on my list of places I needed to visit on my quest for inspiration.
It definitely lived up to everything it was said to be in the many books and movies its been glamorized by. While I chose to stay in a hotel, adventures types put up camp on the top floor of the Canyon, where many campgrounds are dispersed. I found out that camping on the actual Canyon floor, while not illegal, still needed a permit from the country office.
If you are fortunate to be in the national park long enough, I recommend the ´Colorado River Float Trip´. A great experience for family and friends, around 22 passengers get on a raft to float down the river - it is awesome! Make sure you give it a try.
