The Cannes Film Festival is the most prestigious film event in the world. A festival that is soon approaching it´s 70th birthday, the Cannes film festival is definitely a 10 day event worth checking out at least once in your life time.
It is really hard to get movie tickets unless you are ""in the biz"" but you can be sure to catch a flick at the nightly open-air cinema, where all the movies are free to watch. Pretty cool. For me the movies aren´t the be-all end-all of the festival. I love watching all the stars decked out and schmoozing. Position yourself in front of any major hotel, especially the Ritz Carlton, if you want to be sure to catch the tried-and-true as well as the latest up-and-coming actors. It is hard not to want to see the ""big stars"" of the festival when you are surrounded by nothing but faster cars and bigger boats than you have ever seen in your life. Although not always this glitzy, the Cannes Festival these days is glammed out to the max.
